Fully Electric Ferrari EV Conversion

A New Life for the Ferrari

Ferrari hasn't released a EV yet, but the folks at Current LA have taken this Dino and upgraded it with an electric drivetrain giving it two times the power and all the modern comforts.

The Classic Car Challenge

Owning a classic Ferrari is a goal many of us share, but the reality of classic cars is their good looks come with never ending maintenance, tradeoffs in performance, and lack of things like air conditioning and sound systems. But when this 1973 Ferrari Dino arrived from Florida to Current LA, they took that as a starting point with a big vision.

Twice the Horsepower in this Ferrari

This video covers around the mid point of the build, and Brian talks me through their approach to hit two times the power, integrate custom coilover suspension, and modern comforts, basically taking the beautiful car and removing all the classic car tradeoffs.

Custom Wheels

One particular detail worth catching is the custom designed wheels fabricated especially for this car which really ties it all together. We also spend some time talking about the technical choices for the motor and battery, and they break it down to seem so simple!

2024 SEMA Battle of the Builders

If this car seems familiar, it is because the finished version placed high at the 2024 SEMA Battle of the Builders where all the targets Current LA was shooting for were knocked out of the park…but the finished vehicle is a video for another time. For now, enjoy learning about how to convert a Ferrari to electric and make something that is better than new.
