Recharging while charging

evtuners’ Sparky getting some electrons at a Tesla Supercharger

Recently, my dad and I were filling up his truck at a gas station and he mentioned hearing that charge times and range make trips tough, but he would love to get electric truck. That brought us into a great chat about charge time, how often you need to charge, and if it really is a barrier.

If you talk to people who actually own electric cars, you will find that charge time isn’t something that we worry about or that causes an issue. There is a little learning curve, like charge time from 20% to 50% is quicker than 70% to 100%, some chargers are more powerful than others, and to charge ahead of leaving for a longer drive, but nothing too complex. So, lets jump to the end and say that yes, charging on a road trip takes a bit longer than stopping at gas stations, but that extra time is relaxing and low stress.

So, you are on a longer drive and have a little extra downtime, what do you do? I asked the evt community that question and here is what they said:

This little sample shows most of us ether grab some food or catch up on the phone. No sweat, then back on the road.
