Today I’m sitting down with Kyle Meziere to talk about his Classic 1953 Jeep that he converted to an offroad electric beast with a Tesla Small Drive Unit and Chevy Volt Batteries. Now that it is complete the car has been into the desert offroad and to SEMA 2023!
Drag Racing Roots to Custom EV
Kyle grew up in the car world a part of Meziere Enterprises and their drag racing awesomeness. When it came time to restore this Jeep from his Grandfather he landed on doing somethings special and one of a kind by converting it to electric. This restoration was a full frame off job and included some clever fabrication to get things all working.
Electric Cars Make Sense for Off-roading
Now complete, Kyle takes this Jeep into the desert off-roading and doing what Jeeps do best. He has found that the instant torque helps on the trails, and the lower speeds off road extend the battery range which is an added bonus.
